“I want to share how genuinely proud I am of this apprenticeship scheme and the people who’ve already joined it. Apprenticeships have always played an important role in developing skills, but for us they’re much more than that—they’re a way of backing talent and giving people the chance to grow with us.

Every apprentice who joins brings fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and a real willingness to learn. In return, we make sure they get the support, guidance, and hands‑on experience they need to build confidence and find their feet. It’s not just about learning the job; it’s about helping them shape a career.

I see the impact our apprentices make every day. They contribute to big projects, challenge us with new perspectives, and help keep the business moving forward. Their energy lifts the whole organisation.

Our commitment to apprenticeships isn’t a tick‑box exercise. It’s part of who we are. We’ll keep investing in these programmes, strengthening the training, and championing the value apprentices bring—not just to us, but to the wider economy too.

To all our apprentices, past, present and future: thank you; you’re an important part of our story.”

Q What worried you before applying and how those worries changed?
A – Deep down I was worried about taking ‘the leap’ from my previous job role to this and it not working out. The worries changed in the first month of me being there as you start with a group of people all in the same position as you. You all start from the base to gain the right knowledge to progress through the course at a steady pace.

Q Is there a particular day or event that you’re particularly proud of?
A – I am proud of the work that I have done overseas in Guernsey. This felt like a big step as I was flying out to meet a new group of people that I hadn’t met before. I was given the job to make sure all the laptops and desktops were fully up to date with the right software on them to then be given out to companies that worked with our government partner. These included hospitals, prisons, fire stations and airports, so it was important that they were built right.

Q How have you changed personally since starting this apprenticeship?
A – Personally I have changed mentally because I have thrown myself out of my comfort zone a few times. This has increased my confidence as I feel that I can now work independently to get some jobs done without asking for help.

Q What makes Apogee a good place to learn?
A – Everyone is so welcoming and helpful, you have many opportunities throughout the apprenticeship. Try to put yourself forward for as many things as you can.

Q What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying?
A – Be open to feedback, learn from mistakes quickly and show you can bounce back after setbacks.

Q. What made you consider an apprenticeship instead of university or full-time work?
A. I considered an apprenticeship with Apogee instead of further education or full-time work as it combines the best of both worlds and allows me to gain experience and further my education at the same time. An apprenticeship has suited me so much better than doing just one or the other as it allows me to learn new skills while on the job.

Q. Is there a particular day or event that you’re particularly proud of?
A. I am particularly proud of the day I did my first solo call successfully. It really showed how helpful and informative this apprenticeship has been for me and how much my skills have developed since starting.

Q. How does the balance between study and work feel in practice?
A. The balance between work and study is perfect. Despite constantly learning in college and at work, I am also given the opportunity to show what I have learnt doing solo calls, training, and when out with other technicians.

Q. How has your confidence changed since starting the apprenticeship?
A. My confidence has skyrocketed since starting this apprenticeship, I feel so much more confident in my abilities as a technician, alongside my abilities to face customers with confidence that I can fix the issues they are having with devices.

Q. What makes Apogee a good place to learn?
A. Apogee is a great place to learn. Technicians, mentors, and managers are patient and understanding with the apprentices. Leading to less pressure on myself and allowing me to be able to make mistakes without fear of consequences. Everyone at Apogee understands that you are still learning. Apogee also encourages you to do extra training on their built-in learning portal, meaning you can have more access to resources and can be more qualified.

Q. What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying?
A. The advice I would give to someone thinking of applying is to just go for it. Apogee is an amazing company and offers so much. My apprenticeship with them has been nothing but amazing so far. I have learnt and seen so much. Apprenticeships are such a good way of getting experience and learning. Especially someone who prefers practical work over constant classrooms and repetitive work. There’s always something new to do with Apogee. I highly suggest going through applying for the apprenticeship. It’s been one of the best chapters of my life so far.
