East London NHS Foundation Trust

Apogee's OneSource Web2Print portal, delivered a suite of benefits to the trust, including detailed management information reporting which shows device usage, trends and expenditure.

The Background

The East London NHS Foundation Trust were searching for a reliable Outsource Print partner who would be able to fulfil their print needs around the clock, no matter how small, large, obscure or niche.

The Trust had previously faced a number of challenges in servicing their departmental print and design requirements with the key issues centred around a lack of visibility over print spend, high print and design costs due to the lack of procurement centralisation and limited device reporting.

One of the defining reasons that the East London NHS Foundation Trust chose to partner with Apogee was due to their innovative and dynamic approach, as well as their unrivalled Managed Print Service support to the ELFT’s collaborative partner, Barts Health NHS Trust.

The Solution

Due to the Trust facing some challenges with prior print and document partners, it was key for Apogee to demonstrate their capabilities and fulfil all criteria. As part of the implementation of a smooth sailing Outsource Print partnership, Apogee initially assessed the East London Trusts’ current print output and exactly where the trust needed some guidance and support.

Just some of the key solutions that the Trust were looking to implement were Digital printing, Large format printing suitable for indoor & outdoor climates, Lithographic printing and Large format display stands. With these remits being some of Apogee’s specialties, the trust were in safe hands.

In turn, Apogee introduced and launched their OneSource Web2Print portal at the Trust. This enabled all large volume print runs to be ordered through the portal, and with jobs over a certain threshold all directed to Apogee’s Outsourced Document Services (ODS) team in London to fulfil and deliver back to the Trust, packaged, sealed and labelled accordingly.

Designed with flexibility and security in mind, the Web2Print portal, delivered a suite of benefits to the trust, including detailed management information reporting which shows device usage, trends and expenditure. This in turn, enables the trust to forecast print budget and spend effectively. Another key benefit was that the trust were able to track Apogee’s performance against the pre-agreed SLAs. This ticked yet another one of the key boxes for the trust where they were hesitant it enabled them to directly compare pre-agreed SLAs to exactly what was delivered.

The Outcome

In addition to the implementation of the Web2Print portal which provides the trust with a secure online portal to produce, manage and track all print activity, Apogee were also tasked with designing and producing all signage to be used within the Trust’s Covid-19 vaccination centre.

Apogee’s creative design experts, based in central London were briefed by the communications team at ELFT and visited the site on multiple occasions to see which types of signage would be most suited for the area. The team of designers then created the graphics from scratch, liaising with the ELFT communications team to ensure all brand guidelines were adhered to, whilst communicating the crucial messages through the Covid-19 signage.

A large variation of equipment was used in the signage, roll-out, from a Mactac WW300 which was used for the wall vinyl which was 8 metres wide and 1.8 metre high with matching lamination so it can be easily cleaned and disinfected, to laminated foamex and roller banners that can also be wiped and cleaned.

After successfully working with the Trust’s in-house communications department and care teams, Apogee’s creative design team has created and delivered a large range of window and wall manifestations, patient information material and numerous creative print projects, through the use of the OneSource Web2Print portal and the Trusts ability to call upon Apogee’s Outsourced Document Service Facilities in London at any given time.

In doing so, the Trust were able to convey important Covid related messages, in excess of 200 requests per month through the use of banners and posters to deliver key safety messages throughout the trust and vaccination centres.

Apogee is proud to be the East London NHS Foundation Trusts’ Outsource Print partner and is pleased to have been able to work with the NHS throughout the pandemic.
