George East Housewares

Print Management proved instrumental to reducing costs for George East Housewares' print facilities.

The Background

Being based at two sites brought challenges which they were not equipped for, including having little control of their printing over these sites due to distance and lack of collaboration. This also raised issued of cost control because it was not known what spending was occurring between the sites. Another issue due to these separated sites was the poor connectivity between the print systems.

The Solution

To improve these solutions overall, Apogee installed Print Management software Papercut. This gave them full visibility of the two printing facilities, removing the previous issues around cost control. The visibility helped shift some of the volume to mono rather than colour and reducing total spending. Secure release was also introduced which helped eliminate wastage and allowed them to print to one queue, whilst collecting from any device.

To assist the company through their connectivity problems, Papercut was installed in Bath which kept print traffic local and allowed printing to continue if the link between sites go down. Efficiency was also improved by providing training on Papercut admin console, allowing them to know confidently how to use it and how to control or report on printing.
