Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust

Apogee increases user satisfaction through the visibility and response times of our onsite engineers whilst also creating buy-in to the programme.

"Apogee’s approach was to support the legacy fleet during the transition to the new estate and to prioritise ‘areas of pain’ where users were using legacy devices that were no longer fit for purpose."

– Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust Representative

The Background

Prior to moving to a managed print service the Trust had ‘traditional’ arrangements for print services available to end users. These were primarily an aging desktop fleet managed in house and a long standing agreement with a local print company for copiers and MFDs. Both of these elements were experiencing service and reliability issues with availability of MFDs a particular issue.

Additionally, given the length of time the equipment had been in place, concerns were raised by the Trust over the impact of change that could be experienced with an aggressively rationalised fleet.

The Solution

Central to our strategy was to create a new solution for the Trust that would address these issues as well as delivering enhanced features and efficiencies. Our design included selecting the most appropriate hardware and software from our multi-manufacturer portfolio and designing a detailed deployment plan with which to implement the solution.

The Outcome

Our approach was to support the legacy fleet during the transition to the new estate and to prioritise ‘areas of pain’ where users were using legacy devices that were no longer fit for purpose. This enabled us to quickly increase user satisfaction through the visibility and response times of our onsite engineers whilst also creating buy-in to the programme. The solution has provided the Trust with new and updated technology and services.

We are now working with the Trust to optimise services as well as supporting new departments that are in the process of opening. Our hybrid mail system is undergoing testing prior to being rolled out initially into the outpatients department at Brompton Hospital with further services and innovations being discussed.
